Digital Euro and Crypto-Asset Regulation in the European Union (DECAR:EU) is a Jean Monnet Module dedicated to the study of EU law governing digital finance, payments, and emerging financial technologies. The module focuses on the legal framework of the Digital Euro and crypto-assets, with particular attention to regulation, supervision, and the prevention of misuse within the European financial system.
DECAR:EU combines advanced teaching with applied research and policy
dialogue. It is designed for students with a strong background in law
and finance, offering structured and practice-oriented insight into
European payment law, crypto-asset regulation, and the functioning of EU
financial and banking systems. Through two specialised courses, students
develop a deep understanding of how contractual relationships, payment
mechanisms, and digital financial instruments operate under EU law.
The module is further strengthened by a dedicated research component,
producing high-quality academic outputs, including a book on the
implementation of the Digital Euro and several scholarly papers on the
regulation of digital financial assets.
